For those that use the Curtec barrels for fermenters, is this a good price?

I got my Curtec fermenters for $20 a pop shipped. But that was a few years ago. They are great for 10 gal. batches.

I bought one a year ago for $40 to my door.

Are these the real deal? The photos of them appear to be lighter weight plastic than I was expecting

They seem to be. They have the Curtec name on the bottom.

I’m sure MullerBrau could tell.

I looked again and could not see the name. I tried sending him a message asking for cost for 4 of them including shipping, but have not heard back.

Email me to ebay again or provide your zip code.

They look just like the ones that I have. I paid $38.00 delivered for each of mine.

Hello shipping cost for 4 will be $51.60 with insurance in case of damage total cost $115.60. please let me know.
I’m sure MullerBrau could tell.
Yup, those are the real thing. Look for Curtec 7055 near the bottom. They should be 55 litres or about 14.5 US gallons. They are typically $38-$45 shipped from where I got mine. I did a local pickup for the four I got and they were $8 each. That was a long time ago, before Doug knew there was a market for them.

The plastic is very strong and urable. Mine still look as good as those in the pictures. Go for it, you will love them.

I did. Thanks.

New question: How are you venting them? Did you drill the top?

Yep, I drilled mine to accept a stopper and airlock.

New question: How are you venting them? Did you drill the top?
I drilled mine to accept a black rubber grommet like what is in the lid o a bucket. The airlock then fits into the grommet. When you want to use a blow off tube, you merely connect the tube to the vertical tube in the airlock. Make sure to cut off the cros airs on the end which goes into the grommet so it won’t clog.

I just ordered one and even with the shipping, it’s cheaper than dealing direct with the company in NJ. Looking forward to simplifying my 10gal batches.

Just got mine yesterday.

Current users, any staining issues? Odor retention?

I’m thinking of trying an open fermentation by not snugging the lid down all the way instead of drilling a hole in the lid.

Interesting idea, but what would happen when it stops ‘offing’ gas?
