WTF is Wil Wheaton?

Funny.

Maybe he can become a new embassador of the hobby for women who were between the ages of 11 and 16 in 1989. It would actually help a lot of us expand our homebreweries I bet.

The collaboration brew he did with Stone http://www.stonebrewing.com/collab/w00tstout//url] was a damn fine beer. Good for him!
Will Wheaton played Wesley Crusher on “star trek the next generation” back in the day. He now has several appearances on “The big bang theory”. He apparently home brewed as a hobby in the last few years and has now found the money or investors to back him in a commercial brewing escapade.

My opinion, I could care less and have no intentions on searching out any of his brew or brewing the nb kit he collaborated on.
Wow, somebody’s apparently more of a Voyager fan.

He also played the troubled, yet loyal and intelligent Joey Trotta in a little movie known as “Toy Soldiers”,an epic for early Gen Y-ers’ pre-teen dude sleepover and pizza parties…the movie also starred Louis “Chappy Sinclair” Gossett, Jr. and Sean “Sam” Astin, and was just violent enough to get Mom worried, and easily cool enough to get Dad on board with a screening to kids who may have bit a bit younger than the MPAA’s rated audience.

So many breweries, so much hype, so little time.

Ima just keep brewing my own beer and not worry about the rest of em

He replied to my tweet. He thinks this thread is full of hate and will not be joining the conversation…

I was kinda neutral on Wil Wheaton personally, but that kinda seems feeble.

OK, So IMO the character of Wesley Crusher was one of the top 10 dumbest ideas of Star Trek writers. The character was clearly written in as a feeble attempt to help the franchise appeal to the younger generation so they could get a wider audience. The writers when to far; at the time friends of mine referred to plots solved by Deus Ex Wesley.

Feeling like writers of a fictional series dropped the ball with a particular character leaves me in no way stuck in 1990 any more than a critique of a Dickens character would leave me stuck in the 19th century. I also dislike the character of Hannibal Lecter, but I sure hope Anthony Hopkins doesn’t take it personally.

Hahahaha! Exactly where my mind went whenever I hear his name.

Wow, I actually thought this thread was pretty tame. At least a lot tamer then I would have expected.

FINALLY! I was getting worried…

No hate here Wil. Happy to see that you seem like a normal guy and into the hobby. Cheers on the kit and collab with Stone.

(on a side note I just found out the stocky kid in Stand By Me is Jerry O’Connell!)

Am I the only one who thought of this kit

?

Methinks the title of this thread just might have had something to do with that.

Well, there were a few borderline jerk-wad comments here, and some very bizarre resentment.

WW seems like a ‘regular’ guy with a good sense of humor. But frankly, I can’t say I blame him for not joining, given the first impressions he got from reading the thread.

Too bad.
I think he would have been an interesting presence here.

Agreed!

Haha! I modeled a Pale Wheat Ale after that kit last summer.

Seems like Wil kind of got the “Wheaten Beatdown” on this thread after all.

Anybody know any other famous homebrewers? Quick, send out some tweets!

Wait, I guess we already have Denny and Martin and Kai and some other real famous homebrewers on board. We’re good to go.

Hopefully Wil has been on the forum before and was made to feel welcome and included like the rest of us were. Would suck if this was his first and only impression of us…

It would indeed suck mightily if this was his only impression of the forum.
Unfortunately, for all of the great, supportive, and helpful people in the forums, there’s always the cringeworthy and ‘over-the-top’ über geeks to deal with too. They managed to almost completely sink and ruin at least one formerly active (and now almost ghost town-like) forum that I can think of.

I mean, jeeeez…it’s only beer we’re talkin’ about!!
Some folks clearly take this stuff (and themselves) way too seriously!

I hear that - maybe RDWHAHB didn’t quite get to him… And I am an old dude who has no idea who he is,.but I welcome him and all homebrewers to this great exchange of information…

probably my bad… I was just waiting for an excuse to use “let me google that for you”. I didn’t mean any ‘hate’ by it.

Anyways, I’m a scifi nerd. Sorry Wil
