Sodium Metabisulfite

would like to hear if anyone uses this to sanitize fermenters and or bottles. how is it working for you?

It’s not a very strong sanitizer. It works for wine because wine has more alcohol and a lower pH than beer. I have never tried it as a sanitizer for beer due to logical warnings against its use.

I have used it for years. Never had an infection, but I am fastidious and always rinse and flush everything with Sod met before hanging up equipment.
I’ve also done taste test and I can’t taste Sod Met in water (at stated dilutions) let alone in my beer. It could be more expensive than other sanitizers, I’m not sure, never bothered to do a check.

As stated, good for wine, not as good for beer. It is also used as an additive in wine to combat infection and to prevent oxidation. But it’s effectiveness for that is very pH dependent, and beer is simply too high pH for it to work that way.
