Recommendation for a lower alcohol holiday brew/red ale

Does anyone have a recommendation for a lower alcohol holiday brew or red ale? Lower alcohol would be 5.0 or less. I love pale ales and would also prefer a brew that has only a primary fermentation process, but would consider a secondary.

I’m a newbie (brewed a successful AKA 47 and have a sierra madre in primary right now) so I don’t want to do anything too complicated. I’m wondering if I could brew the Brickwarmer Holiday Red, but reduce the alcohol content by reducing the malt/sugars??

Thanks for any and all ideas!

Try NB’s Surly Bitter Brewer, or a similar English Bitter recipe; few weeks in primary, gravity of 1.040 or so… anything with some Maris Otter, maybe a little crystal malt, and an English yeast! They are very drinkable within 3-4 weeks.

Ken has some nice recipes on his web site. He likes the lower alcohol beers.

This is a great idea. I’ve actually not tried the Surly Bitter, but will try it and go from there. But it sounds like it has what I’m looking for. Thanks again!
