Not sure what quick disconnect to get

I recently purchased this kit from NB to convert a cooler to a mash tun: http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/bron … -barb.html

I want to swap out the barbed fitting with a quick disconnect, but I am not sure what to get. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Use this one the matting parts are listed.

I’ve been using the metal ones from Morebeer for about a year so far. They’ve been good. Just remember, qd’s from different suppliers are not interchangeable.

I enjoy using camlocks:

Another vote for camlocks.

I’ve never used quick disconnects because I haven’t seen the need. I use soft, thick-wall, 1/2 inch silicone hose with gear clamps for my “quick disconnects”. They’re quick because I use a 1/4 inch nut driver to tighten and loosen them - a couple of turns each way. Tighten just until the band of the clamp depresses the outer surface.

Full disclosure: I’m a cheapskate.

Fuller disclosure: I enjoy building and tinkering with my brewing system almost as much as I like brewing - but not nearly as much as I like drinking the end result.

hahaha I’m with you 100%

I’ve had stainless qd’s from morebeer for several years and they work great.

To this point, gear clamps with a nut driver are very darn quick, and darn cheap too. As I said above, I have camlocks… but for many applications, they are a luxury, not a necessity.
