Ken Leonard golden ale

I brewed ken Leonard’s golden ale and its been in the bottle for 2 weeks. I just cracked one open and the carbonation is great but its got a slight butter taste up front . Will this go away with a Lil aging. Other than that its a great beer

Butter makes me jump to diacetyl. What did your fermentation look like? How long was it on the yeast before bottling or secondary?

Sounds like diacetyl. does it remind you of butterscotch?

Give all the bottles some time at room temperature. 1-4 weeks; try opening one every week until the taste subsides. It SHOULD fade over time

Thats interesting. I didnt know it could fade with time. I’m happy if thats true because I recently rushed a batch and I can taste this.

It might hang around. I’ve been wrong before. I recall reading threads about Diacetyl in the bottle that faded over time. Assuming the diacetyl isn’t from a pediococcus infection

Fermentation went really well. I made a starter and fermented about 15 days then bottled. Been in the bottle 2 weeks today. It smells pretty good just a little buttery but only the first taste and then it’s pretty good

Give it some more time bottle conditioning outside of the fridge. I’d bet that the buttery-ness will disappear in a week or two.

Ken’s recipes are top notch. hope it works out
