Granola from spent grains

Just learned about this and tried it out this weekend. Wow, is it good, and something to do with all those spent grains.

I’ve heard that you can also make bread and granola bars from them too.

What was your recipe?

I’ve recently made dog treats. My Labrador loves them.

I’m just not sure spent grains add much nutrition, other than their bulk fiber content.
I’m sure there’s a bit of residual protein.

I tried to do Granola Bars but they didn’t come out sweet enough for me. Only used banana, peanut butter, and yogurt. Probably need honey or brown sugar.

Here is the recipe:
9 c. grains (dried on cookie sheets at 200F for about 1 hour)
1/3c all purpose flour
1/3c whole wheat flour
1 1/2 TBS cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 c raisens
1/4 c oil
3/4 c honey
1/4 c maple syrup (or 1/2 c packed brown sugar)
1 TBS vanilla

Mix dry ingredients together. Add wet ingredients mix only until mixed through. There should be clumps. Bake on a greased cookie sheet or on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper at 350 for 15 min. Carefully turn over granola (if you don’t disturb it too much it will clump more) Bake for another 15 min. Then turn down oven to 200 and bake for 20 min. more. Granola should be crunchy.
