First wort hopping

I’m confused, at the sparge stage of the brew do you add the Hops to the wort (seems like that’s why it is called FWH) and NOT to the mash as the sparge is in progress?

Correct, add the hops to the kettle as soon as you start collecting the wort. They basically steep as you are collecting all the wort.

I also do the same. I throw the hops in the bottom of the keg, pour on the first runnings, fire the burner in that order.
