First BIAB AG Brew pics

Attempted my first BIAB brew day today. I wanted to do a 4 gal batch. My recipe was this:

All-grain:
6lbs Rahr 2-Row Malt
1.5 lbs Briess Caramel 80L
0.5 lbs Briess Organic Chocolate
0.5 lbs Chocolate Wheat
0.5 lbs Simpsons Black Malt

1.0 oz Uk Fuggle
2.0 oz Cascade
1.0 oz Willamette

Started with 5 gal of mash water.

90 min mash at 152-154 degrees

The grain sucked up about 1.5 gal of water. I kind of pulled up the bag tight to get the grain out the wort and the added the extra water I had heated to bring the volume back to 5 gal.

dark wort

Turned out real dark looking. And got just over 4 gal.

next to a couple other 5 gal extract batches.

Congrats on your first batch. A few observations… ya gotta scale your pictures down a little. We can’t really see what’s going on in any of them.

Also, you mentioned how dark your beer was. You’re using about 17% dark roasted malts. That’s a lot! The beer may turn out great, I don’t know, but that’s the reason it’s so dark. I’d personally keep those dark roasted malts under 15% and probably close to 10% or less. It really depends on what you were trying to making though.

Having said that, congrats on your first BIAB AG!!

looks good especially if you like them dark . what yeast, OG,.?

Welcome to the wonderful world of BIAB! Beer looks good.
