I brewed a double IPA last Nov. and dry hopped it with pellets on 1/4. I have never dry hopped before. After doing some reading I just dropped the pellets in the carboy. After 3 days I put the carboy in my keezer and dropped the temp to 34 deg F. I pulled a sample tonight and the gravity is 1.015 and the OG was 1.089. Took a taste and not bad. Only issue is it is fairly cloudy. I was going to cold crash till this weekend. Should I just leave it alone or try something to clear it?
Tasty McD (Sam Adams longshot winner w/ a IIPA) insists that with some of these dry-hopping levels, you just aren’t going to get a clear beer with the IIPA style.
I don’t have any practical experience on cold-crashing IPAs/IIPAs vs. not, but I can’t see how it would hurt.

6 oz. total and one oz. dry hop. On brew day I did make a hop tea (boiled the hops in a separate pot). I probably should have pulled a sample before dry hopping.
Agreed. It could definitely benefit from some more if you want to throw them in.
+2 But you’ll need to bring the temp back into the 60s or 70s and let it sit for a week before cold-crashing.

And you WAY under dry hopped for a double IPA in my opinion. I would recommend three to four ozes atleast.
Yes, for an imperial pale ale 3 to 4 ounces dryhop will make your beer taste and smell like the hop bomb it should be.
I do this, and keep doing this in my IPA’S, with great results.
