When is the best time to add the sugar to the boil? Is there anything else to be aware of when brewing with Belgian candid sugar?
probably at 15 minutes left in the boil, just don’t let it scorch.
It doesn’t really matter much. I add it at the beginning of the boil for 2 reasons…my hop calcs are based on the gravity of the boil, and the sugar is included in that. And it makes sure I don’t forget it! I have to mention that if you’re using the Belgian rock candi sugar, you should save yourself some $$ and just use table sugar.
But the rock candi really impresses my kids…thanks for the insight.
