9 inch false bottom in 10 gallon cooler?

Hi everyone,

I have a 5 gallon round rubbermaid cooler I use as mash tun for batch sparging, and yes, I should have taken the advice to get the 10 gallon.
anyway, now I need a bigger one.
still want to do 5 gallon batches, but I am limited to about 1.5 qts water per pound and have to do 3 runnings to get 7.5 gallons pre-boil and there’s no room to stir.

so, can I use my 9 inch false bottom in a round 10 gallon cooler?
I would like to just move the valve and false bottom over to the new one.

thanks!
Melanie

I have one of each of the false bottoms not sure it would work but grind up 2 or 3 lbs of grain add the water and see if it will work. You won’t even need real warm water.
