Yet another DIY stir plate

I’ve used it for a long time and it works fantastic. I was sending the pic to a friend, so I figured I’d toss it up here, too. I challenge someone to post a more ghetto version:

It’s a selectable-speed 120mm PC case fan

with a Tupperware lid resting on top of it and a wall wart with wires stripped and plugged directly into the fan connector. Standard hard drive magnet is scotch-taped onto the fan.

No on/off switch, no potentiometer, and no resistors (other than what’s built into the fan). The lowest switch setting is perfect for a good surface dimple on a 2L starter.

The blue glow of the mad scientist’s laboratory is just icing on the cake.
