Yeast cakes

It is my understanding that after your primary fermentation you can collect the sludge (yeast) at the bottom of your primary and save for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator for another batch. My ?'s. can you save a batch in the frig for longer than 3 weeks and do you just pour it in a usual at the end of the boil after proper cool down on the wart and then shake it up to mix the yeast?

Yup, put the slurry in a gallon Ziploc bag and it is good for 4 weeks without making a starter. After that, you may want to do a small starter just to proof it.

Thanks Greg.

If you end up storing for more than a month, remember to take a 25% per month viability loss into account.
