West Coast Imperial IPA full boil? Recipe is for partial

Just ordered the West Coast Imperial IPA extract kit. Recipe is based on a 2.5 gallon boil, I want to do full boil, have 8 gallon kettle and Blichmann burner setup. Any issues with this other than monitoring closely for boilovers? I prefer full boil to minimize bacterial issues with water. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Possible there is a change in the hop utilization. I don’t think you will be able to tell the difference.

Well, I had an issue. I did full boil, but normally I start with 6 gallons on a full boil and end up with a fuzz over 5. For some stupid reason, this time I covered my pot most of the time. My OG was supposed to be .086, it came out .074. I didn’t notice at the time, but my pics (yes, I take pics) show the wort was nearly at the 6 gallon mark in the kettle when I was done boiling. This is a difference of 1.6ABV. Normal ABV is over 9%, so it looks like I brewed the first “light” West Coast Imperial IPA. See viewtopic.php?f=43&t=115494
