Washing glassware

What do you use to wash your glassware for your brews?

Honestly I still just throw them into the dishwasher and then store them in the freezer.

Rinse with water. I’ve heard the soap can cause issues with head retention. I don’t freeze mine because imho, the freezing glass takes away from the flavor of a good home brew. My glasses get rinsed and dried and sit at room temp.

I hand wash mine in very hot water with Dawn Pure Essentials and a bottle brush, then rinse thoroughly and air dry. If you use a dishwasher, do not use rinse aid, because it leaves a coating that harms head retention.

I agree with twotacotuesday about the freezer.

You can check to see if there is residue left on them by rinsing it with water, shaking it out then slowly sprinkle salt in it. If the salt sticks evenly its pretty clean. If they have residue left on them the salt won’t stick. If I find that they have residue I will use my hand to scrub the salt around it and rinse well and re check it.
