Tubing for 1/2" barbs

So I’ve just added a pump to my system, and am wondering what size tubing would be appropriate to buy. My thoughts are: If I get 1/2" lines, will they want to pop off the barbs when they get hot and under pressure? But if I get 3/8" lines will they impede the pump flow? Any thoughts and input would be appreciated.

I would use hose clamps on your connections to avoid accidental disconnects. I set my pump up with stainless quick connects. All the barbs have a hose clamp to keep the connection secure. It’s no fun trying to reattach a loose connection with hot liquid coming out-believe me. :?
