To Age or Not to Age?

I bought a few Trader Joe Christmas Ale in 2010 and a few from 2011. Put’em down in the cellar. Both are believed to be Belgian Strong Ales… I also believe that Unibroue (La Fin Du Monde, Tres Pistoles) is the actual brewer of the beer (based on the cork of the bottle)

Gonna bust them out for Turkey Day this year… My question: Is it normal to age Belgian Strong Ale’s? And how long can I age before degradation starts in?


A good example will age extremely well (years). A poorly brewed one will likely get worse over such a long period of time.
