Hold on. This mother looks quite big! Just now starting to get a bit of the wind and rain here in Solomons. I know 560sdl is just across the Bay to the east of me. Hope anyone else in Sandy’s path stays safe. Definitely no brewing for me this weekend.
Thanks, yea, if this thing turn just a little south of the current forecast, we will get crushed. Still not gonna be pretty. Super prepared though and have even run extension cords everywhere so everything is set when we lose power.
Been raining most of the day and winds in the 20’s with higher gusts.
Yesterday brewed a “Hurricane” Ale and picked the last of my hops and tossed the into the boil. What the heck.
You guys be safe. Wish you the best of luck. Hopefully, everyone who needs to get out has done so already.
Thanks.
I actually feel bad for people up north. I saw some weather statements that said NJ and NY may see 10 to 12 foot of water on top of a full moon high tide. That’s crazy. Manhattan flooding? I wish Sandy would just turn to the east and go away.
Here in CT, during this morning’s high tide (10am sunday) it was VERY high. This thing has a serious push of water.
The storm surge could be as high as 12ft. in NJ, NY, and CT. It all depends on where SANDY decides to make landfall. The worst thing is the wind, wich can fell tree’s like toohtpicks, putting alot of people in the dark. Hardwood tree’s in the north are less forgiving then palms, mongroves and pines of the south. When they fall they take everything with them. Good luck and stay safe. Here in western NY we are going to get a good taste of this storm, 5 to 7 inch rain, 30 to 40 mph wind with gusts up to 60. Thats nothing to what you coasters will get, this could get ugly. Are you guys stocked up? I know that you are. 2 weeks of food and five weeks of BEER. Ride the storm out with a homebrew!
Yea, worst thing with this storm is the two days of soaking rain before the real wind hits.
