Does it matter what kind of vodka you use to soak nibs in?

No just brand wise. I have an incredibly cheap vodka I put in my airlocks.
As long as it’s doesn’t taste terrible. I would not spend $30 for a “premium” bottle. Most of the “house” brands should be fine.
If you are worried about it, you can put really cheap vodka through a Brita or similar filter a few times. It ups a Popov to an Absolut or so.
The amount your adding won’t affect flavor so it doesn’t matter. Whatever you have in a plastic bottle you can use. I actually have some silver wold laying around for things like this and for topping off airlocks.
