Rye Saison?

Local brewery has a rye Saison on. Delish! Now I have yet another beer to try to brew! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I seem to have a problem with rye… They are a bit smaller in size, so a smaller crush is needed… My mill won’t adjust… Some day… Me, the wifes food processor and 10 lbs of rye!! BAM!! Sneezles61

Will your mill crush the rye if it is mixed with barley?

I have crushed rye along with barley no problem .025 setting. I have to brews on line now a rye IPA with amerillo and a saison made with some rye. As far as amounts the IPA has 12.5% rye the saison is14.5% rye malt and 14.5% flaked rye

I always mix all my grist in one bucket before going through the mill… I don’t seems to get a good rye taste… I don’t look real close either… Thats why I don’t think it getting crushed much… Sneezles61

I have a three roller mill, and crush towards the fine side of things. Milling rye requires two people, otherwise the mill tends to want to fly across the room, and/or break my wrists.
