Brewing kits from NB. Car.Slobber done and bottled, Innkeeper third week in primary. We do two kits at once for ten gallon batches and just got the Smashing Pumkin Ale. Can not get pumkins here in Missouri just yet. Also calls for( rahr 6-row #g002 )?? any advice ?
Also using coopers carb drops. calls for two in 750ml bottles, which we have done. How many for 12oz bottles ??
You can use canned pumpkin from the store if you want to add it.
I am planning on purchasing this kit next. Any good or bad reviews and tips for this brew would be appreciated, too.

A winter squash will work fine if you can’t get the pumpkin.
I’ve used 1 drop for 12 oz bottles. Make sure you give it time, and disturb the bottles every week or so.
I just picked this one up too, excited to hear how it goes.

I did it last year. And me and everyone that had it was pretty happy with the results.
I didn’t mash the pumpkin. I actually put them in a large grain bag and soaked them in the wort in the boil like a tea.
Going to do jamils pumpkin ale this time around. probably sunday. Thinking about actually mashing the pumpkin this time.
And I just used canned pumpkin. baked in the oven with some brown sugar.
Make sure to use straight canned pumpkin instead of pumpkin pie filling as it will have spices included. My pumpkins in Wisconsin will be ripe shortly. I am planning on roasting the pumpkin on my grill to add a smokey flavor. I did this last year and it really worked well. Don’t over spice. My experience is this beer needs to age the first bottle the spice was like red hots, by Christmas it was great. I hope this helps.
+1 I have used butternut squash in the past for a Pumkin Ale to have it ready before the pumpkins were ready and no one will know the difference, especially if you are going to be adding any pumpkin spice.

I think I will wait for fresh pumpkins to arrive before brewing this kit. The kit says " Cut up the gourd, discard the innards, and roast or microwave the pieces until soft and cooked through, then peel. Mash the peeled, cooked pumpkin flesh with upto 3 gallons of hot water, the 6-row
and the included grains at 152°F for 1 hour. Then strain the liquid off and add it to the water in the boil kettle, topping up to achieve 3 gallons."
I want ALL of the flavor I can get. Thoughts?

I am VERY pleased with this kit ( partial mash w/ baked canned pumpkin ) OUTSTANDING taste ! thought it would be overtly spiced, but it is great.
However, it had been bottled for a month now and still not well carbonated??? any advice
