Poha (Rice flakes)

We all have experience with rice flakes from our brewing but did you know there is a sensational dish named Poha that can be made from a version of what you may have brewed with. Poha is new to me and I think it’s better than any fried rice I’ve had. Here’s a little pictorial journey of my first Poha cooking experience.

These rice flakes are made from parboiled rice. So already cooked.

A quick moistening to get them hydrated. No need to overdo it and resolve them.

A quick squeeze of excess moisture. For love’s sake.

Fry up some veg in this case onion, potato, and some other goodies. The rice is going to cook quick because it’s basically wet Rice Crispies.
here’s a recipe pulled at random that looks good.

Served here with Dosa (another fermented wonder batter) salad and lentils.

So basically a filler? I enjoy yer enthusiasm for the foods/ingredients you find…

Rice is a staple not a filler lol.

Wasn’t down trodding rice… Well, over here rice isn’t used as much… plain old meat and potatoes is all the fixins’… throw in some green beans… or corn… or peas… smothered in gravy…
