I created a 2L starter (WY1968) a couple of months ago, but had to push off brewing until this week. I washed the yeast back then and created a 1L starter last night using the washed yeast. This morning, I noticed some pink specks at the absolute bottom of the Pyrex beaker… Any idea as to what they are, and if this starter’s been “compromised”?
Unfortunately, no… And the starter was looking really gray, so I decided to dump it. I had a WY1945 smack pack around, so I made another starter that looks much better.
