Picnic tap failure

I was wanting some of my yummy cider and when I grabbed the picnic tap, the top came off of it and cider started spraying everywhere. I probably got a pint all over me, the beer fridge and the floor before I could pull the ball lock off of the keg. Has this happened to anyone else?

Probably from all that crap in the air around Butte

I’ve had a few failures. Now they get disassembled, cleaned, a spot of keg lube on the soft parts before reassembling completely. Even brand new ones as I’ve found a couple that weren’t screwed together all the way or were slightly cross threaded. Doesn’t seem to be a lot of QC going into those things, but hey they’re cheap & easy to fix.

No worries about the air, it all goes over the mountains to Gallatin county  So thankful to learn that the head had simply unscrewed. I thought it had completely failed and blew apart.

Funny, it sure doesn’t smell here like it does on that side of the Tobacco Roots. 8)

Glad you got it back working again. Hopefully there wasn’t a large beer casualty in the process.
