Pellet Hops equivalent in Leaf Hops

Hello again,

Its been a while since I last posted on here. I am still extract brewing. I was wondering if the amount of Oz. that an extract recipe calls for in pellet hops is the same if you substitute leaf.

For example the new White House ale calls for 1.5 Oz of East kent goldings and 1.5 oz of UK Fuggles.

If I wanted to swap the pellets for whole leaf, is the measurement the same?

No, the measurements are not the same. Pellet hops have better utilization. Therefore, you will want to increase your whole leaf hops by 10%. In addition, they absorb more wort so you will want to increase that a bit as well. This should automatically be corrected with any brewing program.
