Omega hot ale yeast

Did someone ever used this kind of yeast strain. Omega hot ale yeast. Think it behaves lots like kveik yeast. No temp control required.

Yes I’ve used it, this stuff is a monster, if you want to make a starter with it use a larger vessel than you think you’ll need. I made a 1 L starter the first time I used this yeast the within a couple of hours the krausen pushed the foam stopper out.

Had the same thing with kveik. So did buy a 2 liter flask

It is a Kveik yeast, just a different strain than yeast bay sells. Yeast bay is Voss kveik, and hothead is the Stranda strain. Slightly different ester profile, stranda is supposed to have more apple flavors. Works the same way with temperature.

Think will stick with the kveik

I really love having the Hot Head around. It’s a great yeast that is fool-proof. If it is indeed the apple-ier strain as porkchop suggests I wouldn’t know it because it is an incredibly clean yeast. Clean to the point of being a bit boring.
