Oktoberfest thread

Ultras are my “beach beers”. All day long and cheap.

Been quiet around these hallways…
I’ve been trying out different O-fest brews. I’ll suspect some even are close to the newer, very pale ones…
I’m still looking for “a best in taste” according to me… (:
How about you?

So far this year, I’ve sampled Troeg’s and Great Lakes Ofests, both have been quite good.

I’ve been drinking the Sierra Nevada one. It’s one of the pale ones. To me, it drinks like a 6% pilsner. It’s a beautiful beer and I could drink it year round for the rest of my life and be happy.

Not an Octoberfest but my wife really likes Saranac pumpkin ale. Brewed by FX Matt AKA Utica Club. Not bad actually and about 45 min from where we grew up. https://www.saranac.com/

We’ll be heading up to Duluth next week. I’ll be happy to stop at a few breweries to sample some O-vests… I’ll bet a few growlers will come home with us!
Lienne’s is on tap in town… and I tried Sam Adams. Average brews.

OFest is my favorite. Haven’t gotten around to trying to many this year, but it’s early. Did have New Glarus Staghorn, and it was good. Had Sam Adams this weekend while volunteering the beer truck at the church’s festival, it’s fair.

Hoping my local brew manager can score some Summit and Schells… need to bring some over to a very old friend… enjoy a few snits or so…

had my first Ofest today from a local brewery. Not impressed myself. I found it sweet. This weekend my try some others. Any more suggestions?

So far, my favorite that I’ve tried this year has been Sierra Nevada’s.

I’ve always enjoyed the SN. I believe they tweak it a bit each year but not needed or noticed. Maybe just a marketing thing

This year it’s a collaboration with Brauerei Gutmann, Bavaria, not sure if they collaborate with a different brewery each year or not.

I believe they do. And, I’ve been very pleased every year.

I’ll be curious how brew fest goes for our local brewery…
Their O-fest is weighing in at 7%! Kick off is this am…

had Jacks Abbey Octoberfest yesterday. Although a nice beer not really my idea of an Octoberfest. Very light color with a medium dryness. Very similar to many lagers I had while in Germany

Finally tried SN Oktoberfest/festbier. It was really good. Also tried an oaked Oktoberfest. It too was pretty good. Sadly I didn’t pay attention to who made it!

yes I also had the SN Octoberfest at my nephew’s 40th birthday party. Quite good

Edit: am I missing something about the “lounge”? I can’t find it…

It still shows for me so it’s ’active.’ There hasn’t been any activity since 8/16/24.
I feel ya on the weight gain by heartier beers though! But they’re just too hard to pass up!

I think you have to have X amount of posts, likes blablabla to see it. I can’t imaging you don’t have enough. Let me see if I can fix it.
