NYT: Seen as Offensive, Beer Can Has a Shortened Shelf Life

Hello Everyone,

In case you needed another reason not to drink this stuff:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/31/nyreg ... -life.html

People worldwide are overly sensitive. Perhaps it was a marketing blunder, but debating whether to accept their (Coors) apology is childish and trivial.

IMO

Sigh…yawn

What a joke. At the risk of alienating myself…

Not that I have a hard life (I am sitting in my office typing on a hobby/beer forum), but these people have way too much time and energy on their hands. There are so many better ways to spend their resources promoting their culture. This makes them look like a bunch of oversensitive hair-triggered entitled infants. Which is actually sad because I would venture to say that other than Ms. Mark-Viverito (who I have to imagine is pretty psyched to have her name in the NYT as a staunch advocate for her countrymen), most of the people participating (and drinking hopefully heavily) either a.) didn’t give a $#!+ about the flag, b.) actually liked the idea that the flag was on the cans, or c.) didn’t even notice as they drank beer and celebrated what is probably a great ethnic party.

In my mind, this amounts to nothing more than an opportunistic careerist politician who seized the opportunity to get some publicity at the expense of a legitimate effort by a huge beer maker to sell a few more cases by appealing to a specific audience.

Viva la Politico.

Speaking of overly sensitive, I saw this son the news this morning:

SERIOUSLY?!?! It is a vehicle to heat water and create tea, not a fascist dictator!

I saw that. And honestly, if I saw that bill board / picture without being prompted first, not in a million years would I go “wow, that looks like Hitler…”

Seems noone observes the basic rules for the flag anymore.

See Section 8 of the Code.

Maybe it should apply universally but this was not the American flag on the cans. Was Puerto Rican flag in shape of apple (I guess…) based on the article.

I, for one, am so sick and tired of all of the pathetic, over-sensitive, pu**ies. Seriously, reality check… the world doesn’t revolve around you so not everything that someone says, does, believes, or thinks has to do with you. GET OVER YOURSELVES…

In this case, I believe the flags were done to support the cause. Sure, there is marketing behind it as MillerCoors hopes to sell more beer at the festival. But, only a moron would look at a can and say, “geez all Puerto Ricans must be drunks because their flag is on this beer can.” By that logic, all Americans are famous, star athletes as the flag is often patched on many sport uniforms in one way or the other.

My bad. And I even read the article. I suppose they think the same should apply to their flag. And for the record, I don’t necessarily mind the use of the flag as bandannas and all, I don’t think people are intending to disrespect it. Just as Coors wasn’t they were intending to celebrate and honor it.

Nah, they were probably just trying to sell more beer.

I would say that they should stop sponsoring the event since they have had problems 2 years but then the groups would b*tch that coors hate Puerto Ricans since they are not giving money any more. Sounds like another case of we like your money not your product/company. Cheers

On the main part of the kettle I see a fat guy’s ass with a modesty strip covering the money shot. Do I need help? :?

I see Mr. Garrison and Mr. Hat.
