Noerthern Brewer Dry Irish Stout Fermentation

Hello,
I brewed the above beer for the first time two day ago, to the hour. I used the BIAB method. SafAle-S04 yeast. OG 1.043 A couples fumbles at the end. During cooling the wort I realized I forgot the whirfloc tablet and the yeast nutrient. Wort is now at 140*.
I boiled 2 cups of water. Dissolved yeast nutrient in one, whirlfoc tablet in the other. Dumped them into the wort and stirred them in. Continued to cool. Filled the fermentation bucket at 70*, aerating as the wort transfers into the bucket from 2’ above the bucket.
Pitched the yeast and sealed the bucket. 48 hours later (today) I had no airlock activity. Discovered a crack in the lid where I shoved the airlock bung into the lid. Pulled out the bung, repaired the crack and looked inside the lid. Seems to be a little activity but no foam cap. Looked like a glass of coke with little bubbles rising to the surface. Air lock is now show a little activity.

Does this sound like a normal fermentation for this beer? Oh, room temperature is constant 70*.
I don’t have any more SafAle S04. I do have S05.

Almost forgot; once the wort cooled to room temp I put the lid on the boil kettle and let the whirlfloc do it’s thing for about 3 hours. Then transferred to the bucket.

Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

sounds like it’s started I’m not worried about it

Thanks brew_cat. One of these days I’ll learn to trust my process.

Yep, it can take awhile for the yeast, even dry, to get up and running. Three days is where I start to think something is up. Likely, this thing is rocking by now.

Thanks loopie_beer
I’m gonna forget about it for two weeks then check my gravity. I think I have a really slow air leak even after my repair, hence less air lock activity.
