Hello all,

Does anyone have a good extract recipe for a clone of New Belgium Fat Tire Amber Ale? I’m going to a wedding in October and the groom absolutely loves Fat Tire.

A friend made Northern Brewer’s kit a while ago and it was pretty good if I remember correctly. Not sure if anyone has any better input on this kit because I’m not a huge fan but it seemed to do the trick.

Yeah, NB’s Phat Tyre is pretty close. It was my first full boil, so it came out hoppier than the commercial version.

I’m looking to do a fat tire clone as well. Recipe looks good. Doesn’t look like it’s much hoppier. How would you suggest making it more like the commercial version?

I want to do a batch of it for my sister since she loves Fat Tire. But she also doesn’t really like the hoppy beers too much.

It will probably be the right amount of hoppiness if you follow the instructions exactly. I did a full 5 gallon boil, which increases the effectiveness of the hops. Also, the hops mellow some as the beer ages.
