Find an accurate half gallon measure…(metric equivalent) and add one half gallon at at time to your brew kettle…. Perhaps then a stick you could put notches on to record each incremental addition…
Even more accurate could find about how to weigh a volume.

For my 25 gallon mash tun I used a piece of CPVC pipe I had left over. Used a gallon water jug from the store that I checked with a kitchen Pyrex measuring bowl. Figured it they both checked it must be pretty close.

Then I filled it 5 gal at a time and scored the pipe at the water level. Have used it for years and since it is scored, not marked with something the graduations never wear off.
