How big an increase on a 4% yeast cake?

I’m thinking about brewing a biggie later in the year, around 13-14%. Would the yeast cake from a beer around 4% be big enough to handle it?

probably…that’s a 5 gallon starter. :wink:


2/3 of the cake is enough, IME, but you could use the whole thing, too.

3 gallons actually, but should still work the same.

I’ll most likely use the whole thing as these two batches will be all my brewing for a while.
