So I dried my hops until they were as light as a feather and vacuumed sealed them in the freezer. I took a bag of my cascades out the other day and they smelled “green”. I only dried them for a couple days but they were dramatically changed with a fan blowing on them. Is this normal, or should I have dried them longer? Should I refrain from using them for certain steps to avoid that “vegetable” flavor? Should I unpack them and dry longer? Not sure which to do? Thanks.
If you’re reasonably sure that your hops are dry, then I wouldn’t worry about it. Whole hops always smell “grassy” to me to some extent. That doesn’t generally cross over to the beer.
