Help me understand this force carbonation chart. A fellow homebrewer linked it for me. I get that temperature and pressure yield various volumes of CO2 but it seems time is missing from this chart.
Wouldn’t that be a factor on this graph? How long do I keep the PSI at 10 and the temp at 36F to yield 2.47?
Yes time would be another factor, the chart lists the equilibrium points. The time it takes to reach that is dependent on other factors such as surface area. Once equiblibrium is reached your carb level won’t change as long as the temp and pressure remain the same. I find that it usually takes a little over 1 week for a keg to fully carb using the “set it and forget” method. You can speed things up by shaking the keg and/or using a higher pressure if desired.
