Foamy pours... why me?

Here’s my setup:
2 - standard faucets (not Perlick)
1 CO2 regulator, split between two kegs
10’ of 3/16" beer line going to each keg

I had shorter beer lines at one point, and was getting a lot of foam on one of the taps, which I attributed to having a 6’ line, and 1/4" tubing.

So, I bought 20’ of 3/16" tubing, cut it down to 10’ lengths, and thought I’d be golden.
I’ve tried serving pressures anywhere between ~6 psi and 12 psi, to see if it made a difference. It doesn’t seem to at all. I did notice that after I close the tap, a lot of air gathers in the beer line. Temp is ~40 F.

Is over-carbonation a possible culprit? I… I just don’t get it. Anybody have any good ideas?

How did you carb the beer?

Set it and forget it method. Had it at ~ 18psi for 2 weeks while I was off on business.

If it were at 18 psi for 2 weeks at 40 degrees than you have most likely overcarbed your beer. If you are using set it and forget it than you should set your beer at the serving pressure (10 to 12 psi).

That is what I do. I put a liquid connect on my gas line though.

This… I’ll try this tonight. Pin Locks make just hooking up the gas to the beer out a little more tricksy.

Thanks everyone!~ I’ll post results probably tomorrow.

This… was most awesome. I did this last night (threaded disconnects FTW), and now foamy pours no more, everything’s fixed! It was WAY easier than I thought it would be to de-gas the beast.

Thank you, Blackcows and everyone else!

It is awesome isn’t it. I have been brewing for many years and never had a problem with an overcarbed keg until a few weeks ago. I wasn’t thinking and carbed my stout at my normal settings and it had about twice the volume of CO2 that I needed. I found the video when looks for a solution and was skeptical but I had great results just like you.

this did not work for me, when I tried to let the pressure off beer went everywhere

I had a bit of a mess also but much better than 5 gallons of beer wasted.

I had a little bit of a mess as well, but a couple ounces of foamy mess vs. overcarbed beer seems to be more than acceptable collateral.
