Has anyone ever tried to cut or trim these fermometers? I know it’s made of liquid crystals so I’m afraid if I cut it, it will ruin the whole thing…

I’m using one that I cut roughly in half to monitor the temperature of my fish tank. Doesn’t seem to have hurt it.
A friend cuts them in half and uses one for ales and the other for lagers.
