Easiest way to make Still Apple cider

So if you wanted to make 5 gal hard cider you would just need to purchase the pasteurized cider or juice, add wine yeast, and ferment? Could you make a Graf by adding like, Kveik Lutra for a quick turnaround? And I heard ciders may need to be back sweetened for sparkling cider? Is that accurate?

Yes you are correct but in order for it to be a Graff you would add wort. You can use beer yeast if you like. I have tried many different yeast and have settled on Premier Classique as my fav. Back sweetening is trickery if you bottle.

Ok cool thanks! I am really looking for the easiest possible bev. But i would like some bubbles in it. I read it loses some apple flavor in fermentation but maybe I could dry hop to compensate other areas

I know my nephew likes it while it is actively fermenting. I’ve seen it done in Europe by using a screw cap bottle. Put a pin hole in the cap and let it ferment. Drink it along the way. I might try this myself

Wow that is pretty wild! Those wacky Europeans know a thing or two.

if you don’t open the bottle it will just ferment out. You need to drink it fresh because it wouldn’t age. This is what some people do just let the wild yeast work but I believe it may be better using a yeast that you like

it will be sweet until it uses up all the sugar

So interesting, kind of like a coravin for wine but it’s actually exposing the product as it ferments out. I might just pick up several gallons of apple cider and maybe a couple of different yeasts and see what happens
