Does adding carbonation change Lager process?

I am going to transfer a pilsner to 2 five gallon kegs and lager for 6 weeks in a temp controlled freezer.

When do most people carbonate it?

Hook up CO2 during whole lagering phase?
Toward end of lagering?
After lagering?

I carbonate during lagering. Might as well get a head start on it. It doesn’t affect the beer.
