Diffusion Stone Pore Size

I am preparing to purchase a new diffusion stone attached to a long, stainless steel tube for rigidity. Would you go with the the 2 micron and .5 micron one? Why? I aerate using O2.

It seems like the smaller pore size might clog easier, but would be more efficient (producing finer, less turbulent bubbles that would be less likely to break the surface and escape).

Go with the smaller size. Be sure to always have the O2 flowing while the stone is in the wort and you won’t have any clogging issues. I like to boil mine after use and then push a little more O2 through it (or could use CO2) to make sure that it’s clean and dry inside.

Makes perfect sense to me. Thanks.
