Did you just realize!

I have been home brewing for about 10 months and my palate has changed so much that every beer that I used to drink is just watery garbage compared to the kit brews that I have done. Even the Uninitiated have said they that the primitive homebrew tasted better than they are used to.
My question is that in the relative desert of craft brewing that is south Florida, what is an acceptable store bought beer that can satiate my thirst between homebrews? I don’t like heavy hoped IPAs like mos I’ve seen. Balanced beers are I preferred.

innis and gunn oak aged is great (don’t know if available in FL)

dogfish head palo santo marron is one of the best beers ever (pretty pricey)

doubt it’s available but RJ Rocker’s Black perle - - cigar city makes some great beers get their black ipa

Despite over 3 years of brewing, I still love me some Sam Adams. I think they just do it right!

Cigar City is the “best” brewery in Florida, at least the most well-known. Try the Maduro Brown if you’re not into IPAs.

Cigar City makes some quality quality stuff and it is widely available in FL.

I believe one or two of these are in FL as well.

I had Intuition when I was down there and thought it was solid. Sweetwater out of GA is pretty available, at least in Northern FL, and they are also very solid.

Can you give some examples of specific beers you like, either that you have brewed, or bought?

Even John Kimmich of Alchemist says every once in awhile, all he wants is a PBR.

Thanks for the recommendations. I don’t really have a favorite style. I really like Belgians; Dubbels and Saisons. But I also like a good RIS and dry Irish Stout, and oh yeah a nice lager.

So far I have brewed a bier de mars, irish red ale, cream ale, dry irish stout, hefe, brown ale and an amber ale. All have been good and I am planning brews for a dubbel, an EPA and a english mild. It’s too early in my brewing endeavor to settle on just a few styles. I’d like to get familiar with good examples of several.

I know there are quality brews here in Florida, some of the ones from up north don’t travel well though (sitting on the loading dock in the sun for a couple of days, bad storage and distribution at times)

And yes, there are times that i like a nice ice cold Red Stripe, haven’t tried Cigar City, but I will.

Thanks for all the help guys…
