Cold sparging

@dannyboy58 I see you do a hot water sparge, I do as well. Have you tried cold water sparge in your hazy style beers? I’ve heard something something about the affect on proteins staying in suspension and keeping the beer hazy. I’m playing with protein in my brews trying to hold onto the hop flavor/aroma longer.

I haven’t. Haven’t really focused on producing a hazy beer either but if you find benefits for hop flavor/aroma I’d be interested…

I’ll try it on my IPA. Another expieriment. Just wondering if anyone has done it and noticed anything. I’m not trying to make anything hazy for the sake of haze either just testing my theories.

Interesting theory. Not much info out there either way. Another issue is pro brewers aren’t going to risk an efficiency loss or bad batch on a large scale.

Wouldn’t expect it would be efficient large scale. Homebrewing has it benefits

I totally agree just suggesting that’s why there’s not much info and why there likely won’t be in from the other side.

I would like to hear if you try it.
