Cleaning beer lines

Hi everybody,

What do you guys use to clean your beer lines?

Paul

Right now I have an extra keg filled with cleaning solution and just pump that through then rinse with some water.

Templar, what solution do you use?

When a keg kicks I rinse it with hot water to get all the trub/yeast out of the bottom, put in a couple qts of star san and push it out through my tap.

After 4-5 uses of a keg I’ll fill with PBW solution and allow that to sit in the line for a few hours or overnight, then push starsan through as well.

I like to use BLC. Works well for me.

I don’t clean mine. I just always keep them full of beer and replace every January.

Danny, I like that idea since it also cleans/sanitizes the dip tube.

Greg, on a three tap system I’m having a hard time keeping them all full. My doctor would have you think I have a drink problem. But as we all know it’s a batch size problem

Paul[/quote]Well tell your doctor he’s full of it. I have a 5 tap setup and I manage to keep mine all full all the time.

Currently just StarSan since most of my stuff is new. After probably 4 or 5 kegs worth of beer I’ll probably use PBW or BLC. Both seem to work well.

I use BLC (or other variants) with this: http://brewonabudget.com/2014/10/04/recirculatingblc/

I used to clean religiously between kegs, but now I only clean every few kegs. I replace my line every 12-18 months.

I use essentially same method as Danny.

Star San after a keg is kicked and then PBW every couple of kegs.

I always have a few extra kegs on hand. Fill line with oxy clean for a few minutes and then pump star San through. I replace my lines once a year.

I bought a 3 gallon keg just for cleaning my lines quickly in between kegs.

I just bought the parts and put this together. This thing works wonders! Thanks for posting the link!

I made something like this with my keg washer pump. I don’t use it often though. I guess about each summer.
