Changing Hops to a British IPA

I’m brewing the mongoose british IPA and I’m worried it will taste too…I don’t know…British. Like maybe too heavy. I was thinking about adding some citrus Hops to the secondary but would I then just be basically making an APA? What do you think???

You’ll still be making a British IPA (if you prefer calling it that). The fact that you’ll add or sub American hops doesn’t really change things…after all, British brewers have used American hops in varying degrees since the 1800s.
Besides, what’s in a name?

I’ve done this and it does taste more like an APA, with a lot of malt character. As a matter of fact I’m not a big fan of the combo of citrus and the sweet graham cracker malt of Maris Otter and British crystal. So I stick with the more traditional hops.
