Carbonating

Hi all,

I was looking to finally keg my Irish Red Ale and I wanted to keep about a growler’s worth aside for others to sample.

My question is, can I carbonate in a swing top growler? I have been told to never do this for risk of growler exploding or the seal failing.

I planned to carbonate this growler with 6 Coopers carbonation drops. The growler size is 72 oz and rather heavy in construction.

Thanks for the help.

Can’t they sample from you keg? Growler should work as long as the seal is new or nearly new. i’ve done it several times. bag of rubber washers/seals are pretty cheap at your lhbs.

I’ve done it before without issues. Just don’t overcarbonate it.
