Brewing a robust porter with WLP029 slurry

I know this is a bit off the wall, but I have a Kolsch fermented with 029 finishing up, and I’m planning on a robust porter (similar grainbill to Denny’s “tried and true” porter recipe posted on the recipe exchange forum, only smaller).

I’ve brewed almost every American ale style with US05, and I am thinking about that WLP029 should give a result that’s not too far off from that. Should be clean, which is about all I want. Also, if I ferment it relatively warm, I could also get some of the estery, vinous quality that is usually only barely perceptable…

Bad idea? :? Any thoughts are welcome!

I’d say go for it. As long as you don’t abuse yeast, it will do a good job. I don’t think this is going to produce anything out of the ordinary, but if its handy then that is a big plus.

Shouldn’t be an issue.
