Brew kit options?

I’m looking to get a brew kit (5gallon) from the menu listing, but noticed a slew of options… from yeast type, to fast itch, to a couple others. Which option do you all select when getting a kit? Thanks in advance to any input or guidance.

A lot of that depends on your brew process. Fast pitch is ready made wort for yeast starters. If you’re using dry yeast, you don’t want to make a starter. If using liquid yeast I would encourage you to look into making a starter. Research ‘shaken not stirred’ starter. It’s the method I use now.

While I enjoy the process of yeast selection and starters, dry yeast is so easy these days that you can’t go wrong

I won’t even bother with liquid yeast, seeing as the choices for dry are many … The “shaken not stirred” method of yeast preparation is simple, and works well.
When I was a yeast rancher, I made my own “fast pitch” using DME. If you do decide to go that route, talk with us and we’ll explain. What style are you going to brew?

Thanks for the info. For my next brew… I’m thinking about doing the Sierra Madre Pale Ale. I have a one gallon test batch in the fermenter now. I’m trying to find something close to my favorite, which is Burning River. It’s a Pale Ale distributed by Great Lakes in Cleveland… my hometown, but can’t always find it here.

well don’t even buy any yeast just dump the left over yeast from your 1 gallon batch into the new wort
