Bottle tang

Drinking a stout that I bottled off the keg a while back. It has developed a slight tang not necessarily a bad thing for the style. Kind of like a barrel aged beer. Just not sure where it came from. I guess I need to keep track of my bottles better. I usually cull my barrel aged bottles. I can’t think of anything else.

Added culture to provide yer tongue with a circus of flavors! Like you say… not a bad thing…

Oxidation?

maybe. The telltale sign of darkening color obviously not apparent in a stout. another hint is while it warms in the glass it fades with the warming up. its not highly carbonated. I only have a couple and lucky for me I still have a 1/2 keg of fresh oyster stout that is getting rave reviews
