Well, that’s why I wonder about what yeast the immigrants brought with them… At least in my neck of the woods, there are a whole bunch of scandahoovians…. What sez IF they brought some yeast from their motherlands didn’t have “some” kviek?
Probably being too optimistic on my part… but it sure makes me smile!

Probably didn’t bring yeast with them since there was plenty available. They also may not have specifically roast malts to make them dark although they may have roasted them a bit darker. The Mexican lager is a true lager and treated as such. KC was a rougher beer from my understanding. You come out of a coal mine your thirsty and poor. Or a farmer who is thirsty and poor. Mark your overnight finish is probably stylistic. They may have use a wild yeast originally which may be close to Kviek
