Blending

I had half a keg of porter left over and I pushed an amber on top. It’s about 50/50 would the ABV and IBU be just the average? I’m calling it an old ale not sure if that’s proper ( Pietro ). It isn’t much lighter than the porter but definitely not as malty. It’s highly drinkable. Any input?

Correct on the IBUs and ABV, it’s just a proportional average between the two. I’ve started blending beers in the glass recently, just because I have a large inventory of so-so beer from before doing water adjustments (@#$%# tannins!) and I’m sick of drinking them. It’s fun to see what you get! Some blends, I’ve decided, are just not meant to be, though.
